On International Women’s Day, Daniela Englbrecht talks about why digital transformation can only succeed with different perspectives

Equal opportunities. New paths. Digital future.

When Daniela Englbrecht, Software Center Manager at CANCOM, talks about technology, she is not just talking about tools or processes—she is always talking about people, opportunities, and perspectives. When talking to her, it quickly becomes clear that technology can only reach its full potential when different voices help shape it. CANCOM Slovakia: In the context of International Women’s Day, what role does technology—especially AI—play in enabling modern, equal collaboration?

Daniela: Technology – especially AI – is changing not only how we work, but also with whom and under what conditions. It creates opportunities that were hardly imaginable a few years ago: we can share knowledge globally, bring teams together regardless of location, and create working models in which flexibility is a given. When we use technology consciously, it creates space for what really matters: creativity, strategic thinking, and the development of ideas. We have the opportunity to make tomorrow’s world of work more flexible and connected, creating work environments where every voice counts—regardless of hierarchy or personal background.

CANCOM Slovakia: What do you think makes for a successful digital transformation, especially with regard to equal opportunities?

Daniela: Digital transformation is successful when it helps people work better, faster, and smarter without overwhelming them. Technology is never the goal, but rather a tool that should help us work better.

Three things are needed for this to succeed: For me, this includes transparent communication and active change management. When it is clear where the journey is headed, companies create a framework in which people are encouraged to try new things – and in which equal opportunities are a matter of course.

  1. Openness to change – both in culture and in structures.
  2. Investment in digital skills – so that all employees can take advantage of the new opportunities.
  3. Diversity in teams – because transformation only works when different perspectives are incorporated.

CANCOM Slovakia: Which technological trends will particularly shape our collaboration in the coming years?

Daniela: In IT, change has always been the only constant, and this dynamic will continue to accelerate. AI will help us share knowledge even faster and design individual learning paths. This makes further development more accessible to everyone. Remote and hybrid work will continue to establish itself, but it remains important that we shape this progress responsibly. Issues such as digital ethics, fairness, and conscious use of technology will become crucial. If we do it right, technology can become a real equalizer—it can break down barriers, strengthen diversity, and create new opportunities.

CANCOM Slovakia: Finally, what advice would you give to young women aspiring to a career in IT?

Daniela: Above all, one thing: follow your path with confidence! The tech world needs you and your perspectives. It’s an incredibly exciting environment that is shaping our future. Those who work in IT have the opportunity to help shape this success and truly understand what lies behind the technologies that shape our everyday lives.

Don’t let clichés and stereotypes hold you back! Diversity is not a nice addition, but crucial to developing technologies that work for everyone. Find mentors, networks, and people who will support you on your journey! Ask questions, contribute your ideas, and don’t be afraid to think big! IT offers endless possibilities. Take advantage of them—and help shape the working world of tomorrow!

CANCOM Slovakia: Thank you for your openness, your perspectives, and the inspiring conversation.
