Dorka non-profit organization was established in 2006 with the aim of providing generally beneficial services in the field of social assistance and the operation of social services and social protection and social curatorship facilities. It officially started its activities in December with the opening of a home for single parents and a shelter for young adults in the city of Košice. Subsequently, it expanded to other cities in Slovakia, namely Prešov, Zvolen and Ružomberok.
Every year in December we fulfill the Christmas wishes of the children from Dorka with an event called: Christmas Tree. How does it all work? The children from Dorka decorate the Christmas tree with their own handmade wishes for Santa Claus. The wishes then travel to us, where our staff will make sure that every single wish is fulfilled and that the Christmas tree in Dorka is as it is in every single family. Quite simply, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree includes presents.
