October was bustling with activity in CANCOM. We engaged in sports, donated blood, carved pumpkins, and even managed a company-wide meeting. Good, right?

At the beginning of the month, we gathered to discuss the latest news in the HR world and there was plenty to talk about; on October 1, 2024, we officially launched a new benefit for CANCOM employees—additional vacation days. Of course, we also covered classic topics such as business trip reimbursements, doctor visits, and recreational vouchers. And with every major meeting comes some refreshments, and this time we enjoyed traditional Slovak pastries.

Like every year, we took part in the 2024 International Peace Marathon. Our participation once again reaffirmed that we are a stable part of this legendary event, and we are pleased that the number of participants, running in our company colors, continues to grow each year.
Saturday was traditionally dedicated to the youngest CANCOM employees, as the mini-marathon took place on that day. This year, 104 CANCOM employees, including their parents, lined up at the start of this event. If someone had walked into our large kitchen on the 5th floor between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Saturday, they would hardly have guessed it was the weekend because the energy was palpable. The little runners were preparing for the race—warming up and some indulging in a sweet boost in the form of pastries waiting for them in the kitchen before the start.
Sunday was dedicated to the main running disciplines (marathon, half-marathon, relay, and inline), and we had representatives in each of them. Four colleagues tackled the marathon, while we had a larger presence in the half-marathon with 23 runners sporting our company colors. And of course, we must not forget our relay team! It was a marathon weekend to remember.
Two years ago, we launched the IT Blood Drop project together with Syntax Slovakia and Bell Integration, and we are pleased that interest in it continues to grow. At the last blood donation event, 38 donors participated, including 9 first-time donors, and together we donated 17.1 liters of blood.
This year, we donated blood three times in total, managing to donate an incredible 43.2 liters. We are already planning blood donations for 2025.

Part of our company culture includes our monthly all-staff meeting which we call “Touch Base.” Since not everyone can always attend in person, some colleagues join online while others participate in person.
What do we discuss together? Topics that we live every day, such as our new corporate strategy and current company affairs.
Pumpkin carving is a staple of our company events, as it is very popular among CANCOM employees. This year, nearly 25 colleagues participated in the competition, and we must admit that their creations truly deserve recognition. When we first saw their work, we were amazed by their talent and immediately decided to display their pieces on our terrace. A good contest also needs an engaging audience, and nearly 40 colleagues enjoyed delicious food and entertainment. So, we are definitely continuing this tradition next year!

Diverse, just like CANCOM itself, because we want every single CANCOM employee to feel good here. With 350 of us now, it can sometimes be a challenge, but it’s worth it. In November, we have some very interesting events lined up, including a hackathon and an event where we will play poker and host a quiz.
