Our Partner High School FUTURUM Stays Busy Even in December
The Christmas atmosphere is already all around us, but our partner high school is certainly not slowing down. On the contrary – it continues to plan activities that bring it closer to its goal of becoming the best high school in the region. We are very pleased to have been able to support them during PRO EDUCO and twice with the organization of Open Day events in recent weeks.
The International Education Fair, Featuring Both FUTURUM and Us
The international education fair PRO EDUCO was first held in Košice in 2007. Today, it serves as a stable platform for presenting a wide range of current topics in education across all levels – both within standard forms of study and beyond. In addition to educational institutions, employers, particularly those utilizing dual education systems, also play an essential role at the fair.
The 16th edition of PRO EDUCO took place on December 4–5, 2024, at the Košice Kulturpark. When FUTURUM approached us for help with organizing, we didn’t hesitate for a moment. Our PSC team provided them with a large screen, and, of course, we supplied promotional materials for their stand.
FUTURUM also participated in the main program. Moderated presentations took place over both days, and High School FUTURUM was featured on stage on Wednesday at 1:30 PM. Jana Kolarovičová, the principal of the high school, and Denisa Sakala Gregová, Senior Manager – SK Central Services, delivered the presentation. The principal introduced how education is conducted at the school, while Denisa shared insights into our intensive collaboration with the high school. Our joint goal is to give high school students an idea of what it’s like to work in an international IT company.
Choosing a High School Is Not Easy
Choosing the right high school is far from simple. The Košice region offers many options, and it’s essential to consider the child’s interests as well as the practicality of the education. Most parents likely ask these two questions: Will my child enjoy studying? and Will my child find opportunities after finishing school? We aimed to address these concerns during the Open Day event, which took place on December 11, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
The Open Day began with a speech by Lenka Takáčová, the school manager, who explained the educational system. Paul Nyitray, an English teacher who also teaches chemistry and biology in English, also spoke. After the school’s introduction, we, as partners, had our opportunity to present. Veronika Andarščíková, a marketing and communications specialist, outlined our collaboration with the high school.
After the official part, at 5:30 PM, visitors were invited to individual classrooms. Future students could test their knowledge of English and mathematics. There was also an IT classroom where our colleague Betka Pališinová had prepared a racing track with micro:bits. The Open Day program was truly rich, and we believe that together with the teachers, we showed future high school students the right choice for their education.
FUTURUM Also Offers Elementary Education
FUTURUM provides complete education – from elementary to high school – with English language instruction starting as early as the 1st grade. On the day following the high school Open Day, an Open Day event was also held at the elementary school, located in the same building, just one floor above.
The elementary school Open Day began at 4:00 PM. The event started with an introduction to the school, followed by a presentation by our colleague Betka Pališinová, who demonstrated micro:bits and their use in education to parents. The official part concluded at 4:30 PM, and parents with their children visited individual classrooms. The micro:bit classroom was undoubtedly the most popular. Small children were fascinated by glowing robots and playing on a banana piano. IT can be fun even for the youngest – all it takes is the right approach.
The Open Day lasted until 7:00 PM, and we were truly pleased with the great interest in micro:bits. We’re already looking forward to the next Open Day at the elementary school!
