13.6. is the date we should not forget. Why?

13.6.2019 the story of CANCOM Slovakia started to be written. Well, after five years, on this very day we opened our new office space, which proves that the main theme of our story is regular growth, as today we are already 350 employees.

Why should we not forget the date 13.6.?

What were our beginnings like?

Well, we started like most of the big names, in the garage, but since it was summer we had some calls in the garden. From the garden we moved to Aupark Tower Košice where we did our first interviews in the Lobby Bar and eventually settled on the third floor. Once we had our own offices, we started building our brand, company culture, processes and all the other things that are necessary for success. We wanted to become a relevant player in the region of Košice, and we have succeeded, as today we belong to the largest employers in the IT sector in our region.

Did we really need new office space?

It may seem to some people that in today’s work-from-home world, it doesn’t make sense to open new office spaces. But here we dare to disagree, as we have built a strong internal culture since our beginning, and so our office was never empty, though we did switch to working from home during COVID. Fortunately, COVID didn’t last forever, and so once we returned to normal, the return to the office was quite easy, and we were once again meeting in large numbers on the third floor during workdays, and sometimes outside of them as well. As we kept growing, our nice office on the third floor with the sun terrace started to seem small, plus we wanted to intensify our cooperation with our partner university FUTURUM, and we had other plans as well. So, the demand was there, so we just had to start preparing the new premises.

After five years of hard work, we rewarded ourselves with new office space.

As we wanted to stay in Aupark Tower Košice and in Košice it is probably very difficult to find a better place, because you are right in the historical center of the city. The very location of our office is a benefit, so we are happy that our new premises are also in Aupark Tower Košice, on the 5th and 8th floor.

On 13.6.2024 we officially opened our new office space together with our CEO Rüdiger Rath and external guests such as: the Innovation Centre of the Košice Region, Úsmev ako Dar and the IT and bilingual grammar school FUTURUM.

So, what does our new office space offer?

On the 5th floor you will find our HR department and our main reception. There is also one large spacious kitchen, two new meeting rooms and a large conference room with a huge LED panel up to 343 cm diagonal. The large meeting room has a capacity of up to 80 guests and our goal is to make this place a cultural hub as we will be doing all our events like Kitchen Talks, Tech Talks, breakfasts and more here.

On the 8th floor there are additional workstations, a large spacious kitchen, an informal Papa’s meeting room, and the Game Zone, which has a Playstation with virtual reality.

In total, we have expanded our office space by 1,300 m2 and increased the number of workstations from 156 to 222. We have also enriched our space with Office Phone boots, which are ideal for short meetings and private phone calls.

Why should we not forget the date 13.6.?

So, it’s the date when our Košice office was officially established and it’s also the date when we opened our new office space and put an official full stop to our successful first 5 years, which were successful and gave us a solid foundation for further growth.
