We celebrated 4th birthday of CANCOM Slovakia properly and particularly in Bavarian style
So, we are a year older and every birthday comes with a proper celebration. We had ours on the last day of August in the Čičky area at KVP. How was the celebration? Well, it was spectacular and like a proper Bavarian company we celebrated it in Bavarian style.
The date 31. 08. 2023 will forever be inscribed in our short but rich corporate history as the day we celebrated our fourth birthday together. Since we wanted it to be a different celebration than the pompous celebration of our 3rd birthday in the East Slovak Gallery, we decided to go the way of Oktoberfest. On the other hand, it was also a logical choice for us, as we are a Bavarian company. The event started at 18:00 and we had fun together until the early morning.
So how was the celebration?
Well, we have to admit that at the beginning it looked not good, because the weather was not very kind to us, and so the scenery of the Čičiek area was slightly demotivating to depressing, as it did not want to stop raining and we started looking for different scenarios how to solve this unflattering situation, but none of the proposed scenarios could solve the situation as such. Fortunately, as if by magic, the weather decided to cooperate and just before the first guests arrived, the first rays of sunshine appeared and you have to admit that to a summer event, the sunshine just belongs. So, in the end all the guests were welcomed by sunshine, bouncer with a hostess, stands with good drinks, good gastronomic delicacies and a big stage on which the band Metal Recall performed in the evening.
The event officially started with a speech by Matúš Čopík, Senior Vice President and Ivan Kováč, Senior Manager – PSC and the gentlemen came dressed in their legendary Hawaiian shirts that we all know well from our company video and our goal for the evening was to have a good time and even compete with each other.
What did we compete in?
Well, in activities that belong to Oktoberfest, such as sawing wood, hammering nails and holding one-liter beer kegs. But we have to admit that there was a lot of interest in the activities and even the ladies did not let themselves be embarrassed. Every single competitor showed determination and perseverance worthy of the Olympics and we would like to thank all the competitors for their participation as well.
The competitions were divided into 2 parts and the first part was about team activities followed by an hour break during which the band Metall Recall performed and played us rock songs from the 80s and 90s. This performance was also educational for our younger colleagues as most of the songs were unfamiliar to them. After the performance, the individual competition in holding one liter beer kegs began and there were competitions in the men’s category and the women’s category. Again, these were performances worthy of the Olympics. After this activity, it was the competition’s evaluation and prizes were presented to the winners by Lubo Roško, Senior Manager. After the awards were presented, the DJ came on the stage and the free entertainment started until the early hours of the morning. If the weather had been nice, we would have certainly stretched it even longer.
There is no hammer like a hammer!
The power hammer competition was also very popular. Although we did not officially judge the competition, from the very beginning this station attracted all the visitors and there was quite a good queue throughout the evening around it. There is simply no hammer like a hammer!
Conclusion
Well, we are curious what we will come up with for our next birthday, but one thing we already know is that it will be an evening we won’t soon forget.
