What was 2022 like in CANCOM? Rich in activities and generous in aid. The year 2022 meant many new opportunities for us, but also different visions. What did the year bring, what innovations did we put into practice, what are we most proud of and what are our visions for 2023? You can read all this in the following lines.

The year 2022 was a really colourful one for us at CANCOM. We welcomed a record number of new staff to our ranks, strengthened our work with local schools and regularly helped where needed.
In addition, we continued to support green IT activities and had a lot of fun at our 3rd birthday party and CANCOM’s 30th anniversary celebration, among other things.

Since the arrival of CANCOM on the Slovak market, we have seen a rapid increase in the number of quality German and English-speaking IT specialists. Over the past year we have boosted our recruitment activities, created the Bring your buddy to IT concept and modified the process regarding the payment of a bonus for referring a colleague. This resulted in a record number of new recruits for 2022. In total, we grew by more than 100 new colleagues. We certainly plan to continue our growth and look forward to the new milestones that await us in 2023.
We are not indifferent to the education of the next generation in IT and this is evidenced by the activities we have in collaboration with various colleges and high schools. Throughout the year, we have expanded our cooperation with the IT high school FUTURUM, where, thanks to our helpful colleagues, we have managed to create a series of lectures and workshops. During the workshops, students have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge directly from our company’s IT specialists. The students of the IT department also visited us in our office premises, where we prepared an interesting program for them. In addition, our colleagues also attended lectures at UPJŠ in Košice or secondary schools in Prešov.
We have not forgotten to help those who need it the most. The year 2022 also brought with it not very positive events. The news we have received regarding the events in Ukraine is shocking. We have been deeply touched by the turn of events and the human stories, so we have not hesitated for a moment and have helped several times during the year, both materially and financially, the people most affected by the war. We donated €250,000 to the non-profit organization Úsmev ako dar, which enabled us to provide targeted aid to families and children. We do not forget about the little ones either and that is why we made Christmas a little bit nicer for the children in the DORKA Košice centre. Together with our colleagues we received Christmas wishes from 63 children. We then fulfilled their Christmas wishes and they were able to unwrap their dream present under the tree on Christmas Eve.
As in previous years, we did not forget about the nature around us in 2022. We enlisted the help of Trash Heroes from Košice, with whom we cleaned up the forest under the observation tower in Košice. In the autumn, we went to the Slovak Paradise, where we cleaned up the surroundings of the hiking trail to the Tomášovský výhled (Tomášovský Lookout) and repaired damaged hiking signs with the help of a nature conservationist.
We all know about the importance of exercise, especially in sedentary work. However, it is not always easy to get into sport, so we try to offer as many of these activities as possible directly to our colleagues. We carefully adapt all activities to the current season. In the spring we started cycling tours with our colleague Petya Živčák, who prepared for us some interesting cycling routes around Košice. In the summer we had our favourite volleyball trainings in the Beach Club and in the autumn we did not miss the 99th edition of the famous International Peace Marathon. In addition, we met regularly throughout the year for circuit training. And let’s not forget our multisport card benefit, which allows our colleagues to play sports anywhere, anytime.
14.09.2022 will forever go down in history as the day when we all got together after a long time, had a great time in the East Slovak Gallery and celebrated our 3rd birthday and 30 years of CANCOM on the market. So there were more than enough reasons for a good celebration. There was dancing on the dance floor, there was an endless queue in front of the photo corner and as far as drinks were concerned, we were forced to reach for reserves in certain types. In three years on the Slovak market we have managed to do more than enough and we are looking forward to the next projects that await us.
As you can see, 2022 has been a very successful year for us and has set the bar really high. We believe that together we will be able to surpass this bar this year and 2023 will be better in all respects. We are already looking forward to achieving our goals this year and we are glad that you will be with us in doing so.
