CANCOM Slovakia: How did you come to CANCOM?
Eva: I originally come from the controlling and finance sector. During my time at a consulting firm, I worked closely with developers, which gave me my first exposure to various technologies. I was so excited by the key role as an interface between technology and customers that I eventually focused entirely on IT sales. Two years ago, I joined CANCOM to become even more technical. I started as a Solution Sales Manager and later moved to the Competence Center Cloud and Datacenter, where I now deal with topics related to AI infrastructures—and that’s exactly my thing.
CANCOM Slovakia: What do you particularly like about your work?
Eva: In my area of the Competence Center, I identify and analyze the most important manufacturers, solutions, and services, prepare this information for our sales team, and also provide support during customer meetings as needed. I also help with preparing quotations, work on strategic concepts, and break these down into suitable solutions so that the sales and specialist sales teams can sell them – this variety makes my job incredibly diverse, which is exactly what I like so much about it. What’s more, CANCOM is already very advanced in AI development and deployment. That’s exactly what makes my job so exciting, because I get to actively shape the field of AI and work on trends.
CANCOM Slovakia: Has AI already changed the way you work?
Eva: Yes, definitely. AI makes many tasks easier for me, even if it hasn’t completely changed my everyday life yet. There are always tasks where I save several hours by using AI. For example, if I’ve only taken notes after a meeting, our Copilot creates a structured and complete summary for me. That’s incredibly helpful—but I still see potential for further efficiency gains. Our internal AI department is continuously working on implementing practical use cases within the company. These include projects such as automated quotation generation and the use of tender agents that intelligently support routine processes. The big advantage is that we don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time – many tasks can be handled much faster and in a more standardized way with the help of AI.
Of course, there are numerous other areas where I would like to see AI support in the future. The technology is not yet at the point where it can comprehensively relieve us in all work processes. But development is progressing rapidly, and I am convinced that AI will have an even greater impact on our working world in the coming years.
CANCOM Slovakia: How will AI change the role of skilled workers?
Eva: AI will primarily take over routine and standard tasks – activities that take a lot of time but offer little creative added value. This will give skilled workers more freedom for strategic, creative, or interpersonal tasks. I therefore don’t see AI as a threat, but as valuable support. It specifically relieves us of repetitive tasks and ensures that we can concentrate on complex and more exciting tasks. This increases motivation and satisfaction because you can achieve more and make better use of your own strengths.
CANCOM Slovakia: What is needed to strengthen trust in AI systems?
Eva: It is important that we really integrate internal AI tools into our everyday work. Only by working with them regularly, trying them out, and playfully testing new functions can we understand what AI can actually do and how it can support us in concrete terms. When you are convinced of a technology yourself and use it regularly, authenticity emerges. This enthusiasm is automatically transferred—and that is exactly how you gain the trust of customers: through your own experience, tangible results, and the visible added value in your daily work.
At CANCOM, in addition to our internal tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, we have a demo hub. There, we present different use cases that clearly show how versatile and helpful artificial intelligence can be in everyday work. Platforms like this give employees a better understanding of what AI can actually do – not just in theory, but in practice.
CANCOM Slovakia: Do you have any tips on how to learn more about AI?
Eva: Podcasts are a great way to regularly engage with the topic of artificial intelligence and stay informed. They are easy to integrate into everyday life, for example while driving. I recommend listening to at least one or two AI podcasts per week because the market is changing so rapidly. I find the Handelsblatt’s AI Briefing, which is published weekly and provides the most important updates in about ten minutes, particularly exciting. Heise Online also regularly offers interesting AI news. Those who prefer to watch videos will find many good articles with practical examples on YouTube under terms such as “AI aktuell” (AI today). It’s important to stay on top of things – those who keep themselves informed can recognize trends early on and make better use of opportunities.
CANCOM Slovakia: Is there an AI trend that you personally find exciting?
Eva: I’m currently particularly fascinated by what’s known as vibe coding. This involves AI independently creating programming code based on simple commands or prompts. For example, you describe to the AI: “I want an app that customers can use to order birthday cakes.” The AI then generates the code, designs the user interface, and adapts the design – all in a very short time. I’m excited about this concept because it democratizes software development: people without programming skills can implement ideas directly. This saves a tremendous amount of time and opens up new creative possibilities.
