The running community in CANCOM Slovakia grows every year, so when the invitation to participate in the Prague Relay came, we didn’t hesitate for a moment.

When the invitation came from our colleagues from Prague from CANCOM Czech Republic, it aroused a wave of enthusiasm in our Košice branch. The prospect of participating in such a relay race was an opportunity we could not pass up, because the main idea of this event was to involve as many CANCOM branches as possible and compete against each other. Our goal is of course to win and become the best CANCOM branch, because we follow the motto : Go Big or Go Home.
Recognizing the importance of this event, we knew we had to select our best runners in a way that was fair and route-accurate. Thus was born the CANCOM Run, which was our first ever joint run where all runners had to complete a 5km course. The first four runners automatically advance and will represent us at the Prague Relay in June. Registration for the race was open to all employees and not only those from Košice, as they could even register online via the STRAVA platform.
The day of the race was very interesting from the beginning, as the weather was not very nice in the morning. Just before the race, however, the storm ended and even the sun came out, which prepared ideal running conditions for our runners. In the end, a small group of dedicated runners in our company colours met at the banks of the Hornád River and all left a little heart there last Thursday. Four colleagues also joined in online and sent us their results.
The sporting performances of our colleagues were really fantastic and many of them broke their own records during the qualification. By a huge margin, my colleague Marcel Jankura was first at the finish line with a time of 20:06. The second place was taken by Tomáš Hudák with a time of 22:12, and Michal Tomčo was close behind him with a time of 22:49. Our four runners were rounded off by a female crew, fellow runner Janka Kováčová, who finished with an excellent time of 23:31. The alternates were Richard Andraščík and Simona Minarčíková, who took fifth and sixth place respectively.
Congratulations to all runners and we are already looking forward to our trip to Prague.
