Summer with CANCOM Slovakia has begun

Our company culture is what distinguishes us. We spend more than half of our day at work, so we try to organize as many events for you as possible, so that it’s not always about work in our office, but also about a pleasant atmosphere and great experiences with your colleagues. We welcomed the summer with a series of great events that took place over the last month. Together we enjoyed a nostalgic retro breakfast, an educational Tech Lunch to a Summer opening party on our terrace.

We kicked off the summer season with a party on our rooftop terrace. High palm trees, Hawaiian leis and colorful decorations transformed our roof terrace into a tropical paradise. Special summer drinks such as Strawberry Mojitos, refreshing Gin Tonic and Aperol, prepared by our skillful students from the reception were served to complete the atmosphere. Every summer party includes a barbecue and great music. As our premises didn’t quite allow it and grilling on our roof terrace was not possible, we used the catering services of Precise who, as always, prepared delicious grilled specialties. All in all, the event was a great success. After all, there was dancing until the night.

The breakfast that most of us have only the fondest memories

Cod, Parisian salad, or a Russian egg? Yes, that’s what the menu looked like at our retro breakfast on Wednesday 21.6.2023. Regular breakfasts enriched our benefits package earlier this year and have become more and more popular since then. We’ve already had a taste of the Orient, a healthy breakfast along with a workshop on healthy eating, as well as a sweet breakfast on Midsummer’s Day. This time, we went back to a former time when these gastronomic legends were served on every table in the morning. However, perhaps the most intense memories of childhood were conjured up by lemonades such as kiwi, raspberry or kofa. This breakfast was hard to resist, as evidenced by the huge attendance. Don’t worry, after the summer break, we’re back with breakfast again and you’ve got a lot to look forward to.

Tech lunch on Public Cloud

Another event that has really caught on with us is Tech Lunch. This time it was dedicated to the topic of Public Cloud. For those who missed it, we will just briefly explain that Public Cloud is an IT model in which public cloud service providers make computing services – including computing and storage, development and deployment environments and applications – available to organizations and individuals. In today’s world, this service is highly sought after by many customers.

Our colleagues Jozef Šmajda, Cloud Developer and Lukáš Fenďa, Cloud Solutions Consultant, told us more about the advantages and disadvantages of Public cloud. The guys also prepared a quiz for everyone at the end and selected 3 winners by random draw, who received various prizes from us.

Our weekly volleyball practices have also become part of our summer with CANCOM. Even though every Wednesday has been vicious so far and the weather hasn’t been great, it hasn’t deterred us and we have been practicing regularly for our volleyball tournament. In addition to volleyball, we have also been improving our fitness at our regular circuit training sessions, which take place up to 4 times a week, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday . For those who were still not enough, Peto Živčák made them suffer on one of the cycling tours that he regularly prepares for us. The first cycling tour led traditionally to ice cream in Kostoľany. Then our group of cyclists set out to discover the cycle paths around Košice and went through the Furčiansky forest to the crematorium, where they enjoyed a chilled beer as a reward.
