1st June is traditionally associated with the International Children’s Day and we have not forgotten the little ones of CANCOM. Take a look together with us how the Children’s Day with CANCOM Slovakia looked like.

Did you know that the International Children’s Day has been celebrated in Slovakia since 1952 and was created at the World Conference for the Welfare of Children? Nowadays, for many, this holiday is more associated with giving out gifts and sweets. We decided to break this stereotype a little bit and instead of giving out sweets, we decided to promote the culture and lead the kids in this direction as well.
As the number of little CANCOMers is growing more and more every year, we even had to organize up to 2 events for the kids, so that everyone could find their own thing. For the very youngest ones, we prepared a puppet theatre in which the children are drawn into the magical world of fairy tales through the play Puss in Boots. The production carried, besides humour, an educational message and the children’s spectator learned how important it is to be an honest person who does not compromise his moral principles under any circumstances.
We really enjoyed Children’s Day and as we have 2 young daughters, a movie premiere was not for us and we are glad that we were able to choose the puppet show. We really enjoyed the show but most importantly, the kids enjoyed it. Even my younger daughter could stand to watch the whole show and couldn’t take her eyes off it.

Older children don’t enjoy puppet theatre very much anymore and that’s why we prepared a slightly different cultural experience for them, a movie screening. On June 1st, the premiere of the new cartoon Spiderman: Through Parallel Worlds took place and so the choice of a movie for children was clear. We enjoyed the unique premiere at the Úsmev cinema in Košice and believe me, not only the children, but also their dads, who together with the children filled the cinema hall. Despite the fact that the film is over two hours long, the children were so captivated by the story that they stayed attentively watching the whole time. Of course, there was also great popcorn, which added to the atmosphere of the screening.
After the puppet show and the end of the film, all the parents and their children gathered together in the Smile cinema, where they enjoyed a delicious special children’s menu and also played with each other.
As you can see, children’s day does not have to be all the time only about expensive gifts and an unbearable pile of sweets. The smallest CANCOMers will confirm it as they really enjoyed this special children’s day to the fullest. They were captivated not only by the story of Puss in Boots but also by Miles Morales as Spiderman. We are glad that the parents also enjoy these cultural events that we organize for the children, as this children’s day was attended by up to 300 participants.
The times must have really changed because some of our colleagues have only met on a plane or in Germany on a business trip, but they have never bumped into each other in our office. This is also what it is like to work at CANCOM.
